1520's Record Report: February 2023
Hey Young World,
This is the February 2023 edition of 1520’s Record Report, our series of monthly articles in which we recommend things we’re currently into.
We’ve picked the name Record Report in honor of Hip Hop magazine The Source, which’s album review section went under that name and, when we were growing up, told us what was worth copping and what wasn’t. In our own small way, we hope to do the same.
Greg Graffin - Punk Paradox: A Memoir (Book)
Bad Religion frontman, biologist and general counterculture icon Greg Graffin’s new book ‘Punk Paradox: A Memoir’ is not only a interesting overview of his life and Bad Religion’s impressive run, but also the result of lifelong grappling with topics such as the apparent conflict between religion and science and what it means to be punk.
De La Soul’s Discography (Music)
Soon De La Soul’s full discography is finally coming to streaming.. If you never have, you should listen to it. Not only because it is one of Hip Hop’s greatest bodies of work, but also in honor of the recently departed Trugoy the Dove. R.I.P. to a legend.
The Café Theater Festival 2023 (Theater Festival)
This March the Café Theater Festival, the performing arts festival for which we do the marketing, will once again take over hospitality establishments across Utrecht (2-5 March), Arnhem (17&18 March) and Rotterdam with no less than 34 new performances by up-and-coming performing artists!
Predictably, we especially recommend the Hip Hop dance performances by Keshaw & Hamiro, Beau Andreas a.k.a. BellaBeau and Elke Thelissen.

One Love,
