Behind The Scenes: xx, Lotte
Hey Young World,
Welcome to Behind The Scenes, a new series in which we will (occasionally) highlight some of the things we’ve been working on.
One of the projects we’ve been working on during the last year is ‘xx, Lotte: die Leiden der jungen Charlotte’, the debut album of Christian Chamoun & Elea Bekkers.
‘xx, Lotte’ is a contemporary-romantic feminist reply to the role of women in classical literature, particularly to Goethe’s ‘Die Leiden des jungen Werther’. Charlotte, no longer a lifeless object of love, but a real person, finally shares her story. Through 17 Schubertiad style songs, as rooted in the modern harmonies of blues, rock, and Arabic music as they are in the Western Classical tradition, writer/singer Elea Bekkers and composer/pianist Christian Chamoun give Charlotte a voice.
We've helped out with everything marketing related, from art direction, branding and PR, to actually getting the album into stores and people's hands.
Regarding the art direction, we went with a late 90s/early 00s theme. For the photoshoot, we carefully curated authentic items from our personal collections to capture the essence of the era. The pictures were taken and edited by Sem Hak.
‘xx, Lotte’ is available now on streaming services as well on CD, vinyl and cassette via www.eleabekkers.com/xx-lotte and selected record stores.
One Love,
