Who We Are
We are 1520, a boutique Millennial and Gen Z marketing and employer branding consulting agency based in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. We operate internationally, with a focus on the Netherlands and the DACH countries.
We have been shaped by our international backgrounds (one Swiss, one German, both a little Dutch), our diverse education, our families and friends, their businesses and by sub- and countercultures. Consequently, ‘1520’ is derived from ‘1520 Sedgwick Avenue’, an apartment building in the Bronx, New York City, that is known as the birthplace of Hip Hop.
1520 are Marius Zürcher (1989) and Maike Nuyken (1991). Through 1520, Marius is, among other things, the Head of Marketing & Communications at an established Dutch theater festival that combines the performing arts and hospitality. Maike combines her work for 1520 with her work as the HR Manager at an international business school.
We have a robust network of talented, likeminded professionals, including designers, photographers, and consultants, that we can rely on to provide additional expertise as needed.

What We Do
As a Millennial and Gen Z marketing and employer branding consulting agency, we help you and your business understand, reach and retain Millennials and Gen Z, as customers and as employees.
We use the term “Millennials” in a psychographic sense, meaning that we focus on a state of mind rather than an age group. Although the majority of what we call Millennials were born in the 80’s and 90’s, the mindset that defines them has spread far beyond that particular generation. Millennials are also the most important tastemakers, which makes them a gateway target group. Gen Z is the generation following Millennials and, although similar to Millennials in many ways, has its own unique qualities and needs.
Millennials and Gen Z cannot be reached with homogeneous, inauthentic messaging or by using style cues. Instead, it's necessary to familiarize oneself with their unique language and gain an understanding of their attitudes and beliefs. Authenticity, aspiration and a sense for perpetual cool lie at the heart of their mindsets and are therefore the foundation on which a company must build.
The frantic modernisation of a company is usually not necessary and often counterproductive. Individual companies and problems need individual solutions. We help you find the right touch points and show you how to utilize them in order to make your business or organization more attractive to Millennial and Gen Z customers and employees.
