Hey Young World,
This is the February 2025 edition of 1520’s Record Report, our series of (almost) monthly articles in which we recommend things we’re currently into.
We’ve picked the name Record Report in honor of Hip Hop magazine The Source, which’s album review section went under that name and, when we were growing up, told us what was worth copping and what wasn’t. In our own small way, we hope to do the same.
Reservation Dogs (TV Series)
We just finished the final (I think) season of Reservation Dogs, a TV show about the lives of Indigenous teens in rural Oklahoma as they navigate the challenges of their cultural identity and growing up. It manages show you a world you probably know very little about, while also being very much relatable coming-of-age story. We highly recommend it.
Less Than Jake - Uncharted (Album)
The new Less Than Jake record came out last November and it hasn’t left heavy rotation since then. Pure joy. These guys been releasing records for 20 years and they still can’t miss.
Café Theater Festival (Performing Arts Festival)
In March the Café Theater Festival, for which we do the marketing, will once again take over hospitality establishments across Utrecht, Arnhem and Rotterdam with new performances by more than 30 up-and-coming performing artists.
We’re confident you can walk into any performance and come out impressed, but if you’re interested in some of our personal recommendations, check out the performances by Rumah-Afra, Gerrit & Mahat, Dorrit Griffioen and Isabel Schoonbeek.
Check www.cafetheaterfestival.nl for the full program and more information.
One Love,
Marius | 1520
