Hey Young World,
This is the new edition of 1520’s Record Report, our series of monthly articles in which we recommend things we’re currently into.
We’ve picked the name Record Report in honor of Hip Hop magazine The Source, which’s album review section went under that name and, when we were growing up, told us what was worth copping and what wasn’t. In our own small way, we hope to do the same.

Ratboys - Singin’ to an empty chair (Album)
Ratboys’ Singin’ To An Empty Chair is warm, raw and open. Blending indie rock with folk and alt-country touches, the Chicago band leans into vulnerability without losing momentum. The songs feel lived-in and unforced, balancing tenderness with grit. Oh, and it rips, too.
VHS Skate Tube (YouTube Channel)
We’ve been spending time with this YouTube channel dedicated entirely to old skateboarding tapes: grainy footage, DIY edits, and gnarly soundtracks, pulled straight from someone’s VHS shelf.
Otherwise we’ve been mostly enjoying the Olympics (Franjo von Allmen!! Gaon Choi!!), so that’s it for this month.
One Love,
Marius | 1520
