Hey Young World,

We took a month off, but now we’re back with the the November 2025 edition of 1520’s Record Report, our series of monthly-ish articles in which we recommend things we’re currently into.

We’ve picked the name Record Report in honor of Hip Hop magazine The Source, which’s album review section went under that name and, when we were growing up, told us what was worth copping and what wasn’t. In our own small way, we hope to do the same.

ROsalia - Lux (Album)

I have been championing Rosalia back when you still had to be a reader of nerdy European music magazines to even know about her. A couple of albums later, she has become a superstars, and also, if you ask me, the best artists of the last 15 years. Her new album only solidifies her position. LUX is a bold, demanding pop album that blends cathedral-sized orchestration and 13 languages into a deeply personal exploration of faith, loss and identity. Your fav could never.

Elif Batuman - Either/Or

After last time’s recommendation of The Idiot, we stayed with Elif Batuman for Either/Or, a continuation that feels both older and just as unsure. Selin is back, still overthinking everything, still searching for meaning in books, love, and the spaces between. It’s dry, funny, and quietly profound.

One Love,

Marius | 1520
